    We traveled to Austin, Texas recently and having dinner at Foreign and Domestic, owned by husband-and-wife chefs Ned and Jodi Elliott, was at the top of our to-do list. Pastry chef Jodi’s famous popovers were so good they inspired us to buy a popover pan and bake them in our kitchen as soon as we got back home.     I love to have a decorative theme that ties different elements of my party together.  I’m not talking “everything has to be the exact same color and style”, but something subtle and sophisticated that pops up here and again.  Besides the obvious candy theme, I created a graphic of multi-colored dots that I used in several places. The dots remind me of candies, they’re light, airy, fun, and happened to match some Martha Stewart truffle wrappers and coasters that I also used for my party.     I’ve always loved birthday parties, especially my own. Usually my family flies out here to spend my birthday with me, but this year they had my younger cousin’s wedding and they had to postpone their trip.
