    Roosevelt Island is a gem that goes overlooked by most NYC visitors.  The island has over 147 acres of parks and promenades, lots of riverfront paths, gardens and incredible views of the city.   Take a taxi, the F train, or take in the views on the air tram across the East River. The Tram costs $2 each way, MetroCards only.     Pearl River Mart is the real Chinatown experience, all within a 3 level shop on Broadway two blocks north of Canal Street. They sell kimonos, cutlery, dishes, teas, Asian candies, furniture, and lots of other Chinese kitsch. With their prices and selection it’s impossible to leave empty handed.  We just discovered they’re taking orders online too. Marc Jacobs Accessories store is a small shop, but it will keep you occupied for a good twenty minutes while you browse the wallet, t-shirts, and bag, all under $50.  They’re also right across the street from Magnolia Bakery, frequently featured on Sex in the City, so have a cupcake or two, you’ll need…
